As SIA President & CEO, John Neuffer is responsible for setting and leading the public policy agenda and serving as the primary advocate for maintaining U.S. leadership in semiconductor design and manufacturing. Mr. Neuffer works closely with SIA member companies and the Board of Directors to align industry priorities and policy goals.
Prior to joining SIA, Mr. Neuffer was Senior Vice President for Global Policy at the Information Technology Industry Council (ITI), where he was responsible for all aspects of ITI’s global government relations covering a wide range of policy areas, including trade, cyber security, standards, regulatory, and privacy. Mr. Neuffer also served as Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of the United States Information Technology Office (USITO) in 2011 and 2012. He currently serves as one of the four USITO Executive Committee members.
Before joining ITI, Mr. Neuffer served for over seven years at the Office of United States Trade Representative (USTR) in Washington, DC: two years as Deputy Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Affairs, which was preceded by over five years as Deputy Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for Japan.
Prior to his tenure with USTR, Mr. Neuffer was a Senior Research Fellow and Political Analyst with the Mitsui Kaijyo Research Institute in Japan for nine years. As a leading commentator on Japanese politics and policy at the Institute, he published a widely read newsletter and wrote regular commentary for the Asian Wall Street Journal, TheStreet.com and Newsweek Japan. Mr. Neuffer lived in Japan for 11 years and speaks Japanese.
