Proposal for Quantum Communications Standards Sub-Committee
On September 5, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) publicized a proposal to set up a Quantum Communications Subcommittee (SC Quantum Communications) under the National Technical Committee 485 on Communications (TC485). The notice is open for comments until October 11.
The SC Quantum Communications under TC485 would draft relevant national standards covering, but not limited to, the following fields below:
- Quantum communication technology and quantum communication networks;
- Quantum computing techniques related to quantum communication;
- Quantum key devices (QKD) for quantum information processing.
In their plan, the SC Quantum Communication would like to develop at least three standards in 2017:
- Terminology definitions for quantum communication;
- Communication services requirements and application scenarios for quantum confidential communications;
- Wavelength division multiplexers (WDM) system technical requirements supporting quantum channels.
