Drone Standards Setting Underway

On Jun. 27, MIIT together with SAC, MOST, MPS, CAAC and 3 other ministries released Guidelines to Build an Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) Standards System (2017-2018) for non-military UAS under the guidance China Manufacturing 2025. The guidelines establish "Three-Steps" to develop a standards system for UAS that includes national standards, industry standards, social organization standards, and enterprise standards, covers the complete life-cycle of UAS, caters to the needs of the market and security, and also calls for domestic standards to be key players in international standards system.
