ISO Recognizes Two NFC Security Standards
On Sept 8, two Chinese Near Field Communication (NFC) Standards, NFC asymmetric key (NEAU-A) and symmetric key (NEAU-S), were recognized as international standards by the ISO/IEC. The NEAU is a security technology in air interface, and solves security problems in NFC and could effectively prevent attacks like counterfeiting, eavesdropping and manipulations. NEUA is widely used in quick pass, NFC devices, and mobile payment products and the release of these two international standards could significantly enhance the security of NFC applications in areas such as airport boarding authentication, transportation cards, credit cards, building passes, etc.
NEAU technology was developed by the WAPI Alliance, a Technical Committee on Wireless Network and Secure Network Access of CCIA. This technology is seen as a breakthrough in core standards for the Internet of Things (IoT). China is working hard to participate and make contributions to international standards setting.
