CIE Hosts World CIO Forum
On August 3, China Institute of Electronics (CIE) hosted the World CIO Forum in Chengdu on "Internet Plus and Intelligent Manufacturing”. The forum covered a wide range of topics including MIIT measures and tasks for Made in China 2025 and Internet Plus, the role of big data in intelligent manufacturing, and the importance of integrating Informatization and industrialization.
As big data in intelligent manufacturing experiences exponential growth, data regulations will become an important backbone to the success of the industry. USITO advised against data policies such as data localization and restrictions on data flows, as a lack of data flows would stall manufacturing industry growth as well as the goals outlined in Made in China 2025.
On the same day, CIE hosted the China Network and Information Security Conference (CNISC), where speakers presented on “Initial Discussions in Strengthening Critical Information Infrastructure”. Industrial control systems (ICS) applied in the energy, power, transportation, and financial sectors were marked as critical industries needing ‘secure and controllable’ core technologies.
