State Council Releases 2016 IPR Key Tasks
On May 5, the General Office of the State Council issued the " 2016 National Actions Against the Infringement of Intellectual Property Rights and the Production and Sale of Counterfeit and Substandard Goods 'Key Tasks'".
The 'Key Tasks' consist of 27 different goals categorized into 7 subsections.
- Enhance governance in key fields
- Improve everyday supervision of the industry
- Strengthen the development of the regulations system
- Reinforce department collaboration and juridical protection
- Advance in the area of punishment, prevention and construction
- Carry out diversified publicity and education
- Effectively build bilateral and multilateral cooperations and exchanges
Additionally, the 'Key Tasks' stipulate that there will be a stronger crackdown on infringement and abuse of intellectual property rights (IPRs) and an improvement on the protection of business secrets. The 'Key Tasks' stress the need to advance the creation and revision of the Anti-Unfair Competition Law, the Copyright Law, the Patent Law amongst others as well as to perfect the process for destroying IP infringing products and fake goods in a harmless manner.
