Chinese SDO Seeks Collaboration with IEEE on Association Standards Development
On March 28, a delegation of IEEE senior executives visited the Chinese Institute of Electronics (CIE) to discuss a bilateral association standardization cooperation plan. This is a significant development in US-China collaboration on association standards. According to the Reform Plan for Further Improving Standardization Work, association standards have been added as a new category in China's standards framework. With the goal of encouraging market-oriented standardization work, the new law will promote international cooperation and mutual recognition in the standards setting process. CIE is one of 39 standardization development organizations (SDOs) that the Standardization Administration of China (SAC) established in 2015.
