NDRC Calls For Support Of Big Data Mega Projects

On January 20, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) issued a Notice on Carrying Out Big Data Promotion Mega Projects to local development and research commissions and central enterprises.

With an aim to further implement the State Council'sBig Data Development Guidelines, the document calls on central enterprises to specifically support:

• big data pilot application in social governance, public service, industry development and innovation and entrepreneurship;
• big data public sharing and opening by completing laws and regulations, evaluation and security review regimes, as well as unified national e-government network;
• infrastructure development including government data centers, government public cloud and green data center pilots;
• data flows by establishing big data standards system and big data trading platforms and systems

The deadline for application is February 5, 2016. National funding for the mega projects will be composed of rolling investments from 2016 to 2018. The document also encourages social capital mobilization in project financing.
