ISC Establishes Committee of Internet Legislative Affairs

On April 29 in Beijing, the Internet Society of China (ISC) announced the establishment of its Committee of Internet Legislative Affairs to promote and support development of Internet-related legislation in China.

According to a news report on ISC's website, the committee will engage in discussion and research, provide policy recommendations to relevant authorities, support formulation of policies, regulations, and national and industrial standards, and work to improve market competition rules.

The committee is a national non-profit organization co-sponsored by 31 Chinese entities, including government authorities such as the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), China's telecom operators and Internet giants, academic institutions, and emerging small and medium-sized Internet enterprises. 

The new committee will be led by Mr. Li Guobin, Pre-Inspector (Director-General level) of the MIIT Department of Policy and Regulation, who has been selected as the Chairman of the Committee.  Liu Duo, Vice President of CAICT, will serve as Vice Chairman together with another eight member representatives. Lu Chuncong from CAICT will serve as Secretary General. Lu Wei, Secretary General of the ISC, will serve as Deputy Director of the standing committee.
