State Council Promotes Information Consumption
On August 14th, the State Council released 'Guidelines to Promote Information Consumption and Boost Domestic Demand' (Document [2013] No. 32). Officially codifying policies that were first announced on July 12th, the Guidelines outline targets for expanding domestic demand and boosting economic growth by developing information industries and fostering consumption.
The Guidelines establish three core principles for spurring information consumption including adherence to market forces, demand-driven growth, and a commitment to improving the environment.
