NPC Reviews Second Draft of Revised Standardization Law

On August 28, the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC) reviewed the second reading draft of the Standardization Law (Revised Draft).

According to the official press release, the second reading draft adds an article supporting enterprise and social organizations’ lead in creating social organization standards and enterprise technical specifications in strategic industries, emerging sectors, and critical technologies.

Regarding social organization standards, the second reading draft explains that social organizations standards are voluntary for the market. The second reading draft also makes a change in enterprise standards disclosure requirement: only self-declaration is required; there is no need to publish on the platform. The self-declaration system applies to social organization standards as well.
