NPC to Conduct Inspection of Implementation of Cybersecurity Law
On August 25, the National People’s Congress (NPC) Standing Committee announced the launch of a “One Law and One Decision” inspection. This refers to the implementation of the Cybersecurity Law (CSL) and theDecision to Strengthen the Protection of the Network Information. The inspection aims to identify problems in the implementation of both document, and analyze and recommend solutions..
The enforcement inspection will focus on the promotion of laws and regulations, development of supporting laws and regulations, enhancement of critical information infrastructure protection and implementation of the multi-level protection scheme (MLPS), and implementation of the personal information protection scheme, among others.
The law enforcement inspection will send six teams to six provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) including Inner Mongolia, Heilongjiang, Fujian, Henan, Guangdong, Chongqing to carry out inspections, and commission 12 other regions including Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Liaoning, Jiangsu Anhui, Hubei, Guangxi, Sichuan, Yunnan, Gansu, Xinjiang.
In mid-November, the law enforcement inspection team will hold a second plenary meeting to discuss the results of the inspection and will report to the NPC Standing Committee in late December.
