NDRC, AQSIQ Issue Revised EE Label Administrative Measures

On February 29, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC)and the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) jointly issued revised Administrative Measures for Energy Efficiency Labels (the "Measures") for implementation June 1, 2016.

The Measures specify that manufacturers and importers shall print and include energy efficiency labels on energy-consuming products listed in a Catalog of Products Requiring Energy Efficiency Labels. For products traded online, the corresponding energy efficiency labels shall be displayed prominently on product webpages. In addition, the Measures stress that for energy-consuming products listed in the Catalog, manufacturers or importers shall apply to authorized agencies for record-filing before the products leave factories or are imported.
