MOFCOM response to U.S.-issued tariff list
On June 16, 2018, China’s Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) published an announcement which would add tariffs to certain imports from the U.S. These tariffs have been determined by the Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council, which has decided to impose an additional duty of 25 percent on 659 imported products originating in the U.S. worth around $50 billion. Of the total products, 545 imported products worth about $34 billion will be subject to the proposed additional duty from July 6, 2018, while the time for imposing additional tariffs on the other products will be separately announced.
