Mobile Internet Standards System Guidelines Released

On August 7th, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) released Guidelines on Building Mobile Internet Comprehensive Standardization System to promote the orderly development of the Internet and utilize standards to guide and regulate the industry. As the 13th FYP on Strategic Emerging Industries, Information Technology Development Guide, and ICT Development Plan pointed out, building a standardization system for mobile internet is the key to accelerating end terminal and application, network and information security standards development. 

Mobile internet as defined by the Guidelines, is the internet access services through mobile networks, including end terminals, mobile networks, mobile services and applications, mobile security, and other key components.The Guidelines also provide a Mobile Internet Standardization System Framework and a detailed list of potential standards under 5 categories- Basic, Mobile Terminals, Mobile Networks, Mobile Services and Applications, and Mobile Security. 

The goal is to have a comprehensive standards system that covers most products and services, that is on the same level as leading international standards, adopted by 2020.
