MIIT Orders for Improved Standardization Process in Manufacturing

On August 2, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), National Standardization Committee and AQSIQ jointly issued a Notice on Standardization and Quality Improvement Plan for Equipment Manufacturing Industry.

The plan aims to improve the standards system in the areas of industrial manufacturing, intelligent manufacturing, green manufacturing, and other key fields by 2020. A batch of "Made in China" brands will also be established by 2025.

The Plan sets out eight tasks including improving innovation capabilities, developing service-oriented manufacturing and standardizing production-oriented services. It also calls to make breakthroughs in standardization for key fields such the new generation of information technology, energy-saving and new energy vehicles (NEVs) and electronic equipment.
