MIIT Hosts Inter-Ministerial IC Meeting

On December 3 and 4, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) hosted an inter-ministerial work meeting on integrated circuit development. 

According to the official report on its website, MIIT Vice Minister Huai Jinpeng delivered keynote remarks, during which he outlined three "transitions" taking place in China's electronics industry:

• Market transition to greater cloud, mobile, Big Data and Internet of Things deployment
• Innovation transition to a more integrated electronics ecosystem
• Competition transition to unlock new opportunities

Vice Minister Huai then laid out four major requirements for developing China's IC industry:

• Unleash greater domestic demand
• Upgrade China's innovation capabilities
• Create opportunities through government policy, capital support and international cooperation
• Address competition from outside of China
