GAC and OSCCA Launch Paperless Clearance for Import of Encryption Products and Equipment

On December 30, 2012, the China General Administration of Customs (GAC) and Office of State Commercial Cryptography Administration (OSCCA) jointly announced the trial launch of paperless processing online for import licenses for encryption products and equipment. 

The three-month trial began January 1 in four regions (Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, and Shenzhen). Formal operation is set to begin April 1.
