Further Clarification from MIIT on Use of Domain Names by Internet Information Services

A month after Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT)'s Administrative Measures for Internet Domain Name comes into effect, MIIT released the Notice on Regulating Internet Information Services Using Domain Names, effective January 1st, 2018. The Notice will further regulate the use of domain names by internet information services. Internet information services as defined by the Internet Information Services Administrative Measures as service activities providing information to internet users. 
 
The Notice states when internet information service providers register for a domain name, the registration should be under someone from its executive management team. The Notice also stresses the real name registration system required by the Cybersecurity Law: internet information service providers should provide a real identity to internet access service providers, domain name registration administrator, and domain name registration service provider for verification.
