Former CAC Head Lu Wei Under Investigation
Lu Wei, former deputy head of the Propaganda Department, is under investigation for "suspected severe disciplinary violations" according to a public announcement on Nov. 21st from the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) – the country's top anti-graft watchdog. Lu headed up the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) from 2013 to 2016 before moving to the Propaganda Department, and had extensive work experience with local and central Xinhua News Agencies.
According to an article on the CCDI website, the CCDI team identified problems in an ad-hoc disciplinary inspection at CAC this June, and this is the 12th (also the last) round of inspection since the 18th party congress.
