China's Government Procurement for Green Products

On Feb 12, MOF jointly released the Regulation on Improving Government Procurement Implementation Mechanism for Energy-Efficient and Environmental Labelling Productswith NDRC, MEE and SAMR. There are two potential impacts this regulation will have on government procurement of energy-efficiency and environmental labelling products:
  1. There is no catalogue (products list) attached, but there are categories and certification mentioned. 
  2. The regulation proposes a much broader scope and would present more compliance costs.
