China to Build State-Level Appeal & Trial Mechanism for IP Cases

On October 22, Zhou Qiang, President of the P.R.C. Supreme People’s Court (SPC), delivered the Explanation to the Decisions on Some Issues Concerning Proceedings for Patent and Other Cases (Draft). According to Zhou, the decision to create a mechanism for state-level intellectual property case appeals and trials – passed at the first meeting of the 19th CPC Central Committee’s Central Overall Reform Commission – represents a major development in China’s legal sphere.
