CCSA holds event on Connected Car Standards
On November 23, China Communications Standards Association (CCSA) held an event in Wuzhen to discuss Connected Car Standards. Vice Chairman and Secretary General of CCSA, Yang Ze, and Deputy Director of MIIT's Science and Technology Department, Xu Peng, both delivered speeches on the topic.
MIIT and CCSA are working to build a connected car coordination innovation system to accelerate the development of common connected car technology and strengthen common standards. They are still developing a standards system and are following the principle of “共性先立、急用先行” where they will steadily work on common standards while giving priority to standards deemed urgent to the industry. The connected car standards system will focus on the areas of smart cars, intelligent transport, network communications, electronic information, and car smart management. Sensors, processors, software algorithms, and mapping have been identified as the four main core components of a connected vehicle so these areas will receive a lot of attention.
Additional areas of focus include:
- Standards related to big data and cloud platform
- General tech requirements for vehicle communication based LTE
- Navigation and positioning RF performance requirements for in-vehicle mobile communication terminals
- Research on wireless access technology for intelligent transport systems
- Tech reqs for LTe-based IoV wireless communication
- Information services for auto
- Mobile phone and vehicle terminal connection
- Security for intelligent terminal
- Emergency communication standards
- Encryption
The speakers also emphasized the need to improve car safety and to increase R&D in vehicle safety standards.
