CAC Holds First National Cyber Social Organizations Joint Meeting
On July 26, the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) held the first national cyber social organizations joint meeting in Beijing. The theme of this meeting was to further study and implement General-Secretary Xi's speech on informatization and cybersecurity on April 19, so as to bring about the role of cyber social organizations in promoting internet industry self-discipline. CAC Vice Minister Ren Xianliang, along with the leaders of 18 national cyber social organizations, attended the meeting and delivered speeches.
According to Liang, China's cyber social organizations will act as bridges between government and industries, government and netizens, and lead international collaboration. Work will focus on the areas of online content building, cybersecurity maintenance, and self-discipline non-binding proposals as well as binding conventions.
Existing leading cyber social organizations in China include the Internet Society of China (ISC), the Cyberspace Security Association of China (CSAC), the China Netcasting Services Association (CNSA), the Internet Access Service Association of China (IASAC), the China Communications Standards Association (CCSA), the National Internet Finance Association of China (NIFA), the China Information Technology Industry Federation (CITIF), the China Information Industry Association (CIIA), among others.
