MIIT To Construct National Internet Backbone Access Points in 7 More Cities

On Oct. 25th, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) announced it would set up seven new national Internet backbone access points in order to accelerate the promotion of its "Broadband China"strategy. 

The MIIT plan will greatly increase the number of nodes available for interconnectivity and inter-networking, and follows other MIIT policy moves this year to lower settlement prices for Internet exchange centers and increase total bandwidth of the Internet to 1492GB as of the end of September.
