CAC Sheds Light on The Cybersecurity Law

On May 31, one day head of the CSL's effective date, the CAC Cybersecurity Coordination Bureau published an Q&A article on some issues concerning the implementation of the CSL in response to industry's request that CAC provide the clarifications on the law in print.

The Q&A briefly addressed the foreign associations' call for a delay in CSL implementation, and stated that China is entitled to make laws and regulations to regulate cyber affairs. They claim CSL doesn't create trade barriers and limit foreign firms' tech products from entering the China market and promotes the legal, orderly free flow of data. Furthermore, the cybersecurity review regime and "secure & trusted" requirements do not discriminate against foreign technology or products.
