Big Data Expo Held in Guiyang

The second China International Big Data Expo was held in Guiyang, Guizhou Province on May 25-28, 2017. The event included five high level forums on the topics of machine intelligence, artificial intelligence, smart manufacturing, e-commerce, and block chain. In addition, six exhibition halls showcased products from a range of domestic and foreign companies. 

Vice Premier Ma Kai and MIIT Minister Miao Wei delivered speeches during the opening ceremony. The founder of Alibaba Group Jack Ma, Chairman and CEO of Baidu Robin Li, and founder of Foxconn Terry Gou participated as representatives of industry and did not deliver speeches.

Premier Li Keqiang, who delivered the keynote at the inaugural Big Data Expo, sent a congratulatory letter that highlighted the innovation of the digital economy. Chen Min'er, the Party Secretary of the Guizhou Provincial Party Committee also delivered a speech highlighting Guizhou’s provincial plan to develop big data.
 
In his speech, Vice Premier Ma Kai pointed out the following: 

  • Big data, cloud computing and the Internet of Things (IOT) are the most important strategic resources in the new era. The Chinese government will enhance the use of the Internet, big data, and the cloud to provide a platform for ‘mass entrepreneurship and innovation’.
  • China is willing to work with other countries to take the responsibility to develop and manage big data sources, accelerate the development and utilization of data resources, drive data industrialization and commercialization, and encourage technological innovation.
  • China will strive to further develop key technologies for large scale data acquisition, data storage, processing, analysis, data security and data related laws and regulations. 

In addition to the opening ceremony, nearly 80 forums were held throughout the four-day conference.
