TC260 Sets Focus Based on President Xi's Recent Cybersecurity Meeting

On May 7, the National Information Security Standardization Technical Committee (TC260) held a symposium in Beijing to study and implement the main components of President Xi's recent speech on China's cybersecurity and informatization development. 

 

At the discussion, TC260 committee members acknowledged that cybersecurity standards are a core component for national competition in cyberspace. Furthermore, the relationship between development and security, open and indigenous innovation and management and service all need to be considered when developing and implementing standards. 

 

Specifically, TC260 emphasized the relevant areas that should embody Xi's cybersecurity views, including: 
  • Expedite drafting of national standards on personal information security norms and protection framework
  • Develop standards on national key information infrastructure definition and protection framework
  • Accelerate drafting of cybersecurity information sharing guidelines and establish a cybersecurity risk report and information sharing mechanism
  • Revise and edit existing testing and certification standards with the aim to provide unified criteria for cybersecurity product testing and certification
  • Conduct research on cybersecurity-related teaching materials, academic subjects, and evaluation indicators for growing human capital in order to support the establishment of top-notch cybersecurity schools 
  • Participate in international cybersecurity standardization work and vigorously promote Chinese national cybersecurity standards to be adopted as international standards
Officials from the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) and theStandardization Administration of China (SAC) also participated in the meeting. In affiliation with the SAC and CAC, TC260 is responsible for the standardization technical work on information security technologies, mechanisms, services, management and evaluation, among others.
