One Year After Release, Premier Li Reflects on China Manufacturing 2025

On May 8, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang published "9 Outcomes" from the China Manufacturing 2025 policy on the official State Council website. Premier Li's commentary comes almost exactly one year after the policy was first announced and made public, and provides insight into how the policy will be implemented moving forward.

Specifically, the "9 Outcomes" that Premier Li introduces are:
  • The Internet Plus Action Plan is a necessary support policy for China Manufacturing 2025
  • China Manufacturing 2025 cannot only focus on equipment upgrading, but must understand consumer and market demands
  • China Manufacturing 2025 should optimize integration with other innovation policies and concepts, such as "Innovation-driven Development," the Masses Innovate, and SME support policies
  • China Manufacturing 2025 will only achieve breakthroughs if it is Internet-focused and promotes industrial internet development
  • Given Germany's advanced manufacturing technology and China's large market size, the two countries should be natural partners
  • Internet Plus and China Manufacturing 2025 are the lifeblood of China's "New Industrial Revolution"
  • China Manufacturing 2025 must patch up unsophisticated aspects of China's manufacturing space while also engaging in cutting-edge research and innovative development
  • The Chinese market and customers must be the true drivers of China's new manufacturing economy in order to provide real incentives for long-term growth
  • "Made in China" will not stop, but the focus of China Manufacturing 2025 is industrial equipment upgrading
