POSITION SUMMARY

This newly created position will be based in InterDigital’s new office in Shanghai, China, and will entail significant travel within m ainland China. The successful candidate will drive InterDigital’s efforts to develop strategic business relationships wit h Chinese mobile handset manufacturers (OEMs/ODMs). The y will also identify and develop industry relationships that will enable InterDigital to expand its customer and revenue base in China through patent licensing, research joint ventures, technology sol utions, and product offerings. This role will report directly to the Global Head of Business Development.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Cultivate and maintain a robust network of relationships with the intellectual property (IP), research and development (R&D), and product management organizations and executive leadership at Chinese OEMs/ODMs .
  • In consultation with the Global Head of Business Development, develop and implement a strategic plan to grow InterDigital’s customer and revenue base in China through a co mbination of patent licensing, research joint ventures, technology solutions, and/or product offerings .
  • Achieve revenue targets set forth in such strategic plan .
  • Collaborate internally with InterDigital’s patent licensing, R&D, technology solutions, and product groups to structure and deliver value - driven offerings to Chinese OEMs/ODMs while drawing from an informed understanding of market and specific customer needs .
  • Serve as InterDigital’s primary point of contact for existing and prospective customers in China and communicate feedback to internal stakeholders .

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

The successful candidate will have at least 15 years of business development experience and accomplishments within the global wireless telecommunications industry, preferably with Chinese companies as well as multinationals operating in China, and will have built a strong network of business and personal relationships within the mobile ecosystem in China and other parties that they can bring to bear for this role. T hey will possess a solid combination of technical and business acumen and a demonstrated ability to source, structure, and close technology transactions. They will exhibit a deep understanding of the existing mobile ecosystem and market and the ability to recognize and understand customers’ immediate and future technological needs.

  • Linguistically fluent in spoken and written Mandarin and English .
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills .

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required, preferably in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or other technical discipline. Master’s degree or equivalent in a technical discipline and/or MBA is preferred.
